What You Should Discuss with Your Dentist

Most people see their dentist only the recommended minimum of twice a year, and some even less than that. If you have an appointment with one of our dentists in Santa Clarita penned in your schedule, you can consider this an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, or have a discussion about issues you could have in the future.

The following are some questions you can consider asking your dentist:

  • Do you have any advice about cleaning the teeth? What changes should I make to my brushing technique or cleaning routine?
  • What are signs that could show in my teeth or mouth that indicate possible health issues in the body?
  • What toothpaste, floss, and toothbrush do you recommend?
  • Can you have any resources to help me quit smoking/tobacco?
  • Should I use mouthwash, and if so, what brand?
  • How do I spot the signs of gum disease?
  • Do you have any recommendations for my diet?
  • Are my teeth white enough? Do you recommend teeth whitening?

The most important part of this process is that you get the information you need to feel comfortable continuing to take care of your teeth on your own until your next appointment. Be sure that you discuss any concerns you may have with your dentist, even if they are not included in the list above.
