More and more patients are opting for dental veneers today. Dental veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth. These are effective for masking teeth with cosmetic flaws, such as chips, cracks, stains, crooked teeth, and spacing issues. The process of getting this addition to the smile is relatively simple.
At a consultation appointment, our porcelain veneers dentist will inform you whether or not you are a good candidate for this cosmetic option. If so, you will schedule you next appointment, during which we will take impressions of your teeth, which will be used to create veneers custom to you. Next, a thin layer of enamel will be removed. This is so the teeth do not look too big or misshapen once the veneers are placed. This also means that once they are placed, they are permanent, as the teeth cannot function with this lack of enamel.
When you return to our office and receive your veneers, you will be able to use your teeth like normal right away. Although your teeth are now further protected, they still need cleaning and care. Be sure to brush and floss as normal, and visit our office for check-ups as recommended.
