In our practice, we see many patients of all ages looking for orthodontic treatment. While braces were once synonymous with teenagers, better techniques and advances in the industry made braces helpful for elementary school-aged children as well as for teens and adults of all ages. With so many ways to create a beautiful straight smile, our orthodontist in Torrance can help you get the smile of your dreams.

Our practice offers several options for braces which all help create beautiful smiles.

TRADITIONAL WIRED BRACES-

Wired braces are what comes to mind when you think of braces. They are used to fix many issues like crooked teeth, underbites, overbites, gaps, malocclusions, cross bites and other misalignments. Wired braces consist of brackets, bonding substance, archwire, and elastic bands. The brackets bond to the patient’s teeth and threads the wire through the brackets. Then the elastic ligature bands attach to the wires and will control the amount of pressure on your braces.

Braces straighten teeth and fix bite difficulties because they apply continued pressure to your teeth. Over time, your teeth loosen and start moving closer to the right position. During your appointments at our dental office, our dentist monitors your tooth movement and tightens the wires which guide your teeth into the correct place.

Our office also offers patients variations of modern wired braces.

• Clear or ceramic braces-Clear braces work as metal braces do. Our patients like them because the brackets are either transparent or tooth-colored. These are a popular choice.

• Lingual braces- These braces attach to the inside of the teeth, making them hard to see. The lingual braces work like regular metal braces and are effective.

INVISALIGN TRAYS-

For this type of orthodontic treatment, our dentist uses see-through thin alignment trays made of plastic and custom made to fit comfortably. Impressions of the patient’s teeth guide the creation of the aligners which push the teeth into the right position. Through the course of treatment, the patient gets new alignment trays every few weeks to keep the teeth moving towards the proper place.
