How Effective is Invisalign?

Patients seeking orthodontic care have more effective options than ever. We have evidence that shows ancient civilizations created ways to straighten teeth. Some Egyptian mummies wear the wires and catgut that served as early orthodontic devices. As technology continues to improve, orthodontic treatments become less cumbersome than in years past.

One example of an orthodontic treatment that is changing the way patients and dental professionals think about realigning teeth is Invisalign. For over 20 years, dental professionals have been creating beautiful smiles using the Invisalign alignment system.

The Invisalign system consists of a series of clear plastic alignment trays. These slip over your teeth and gently guide your teeth into the best possible position. During your course of treatment, you will have new aligners about every two weeks. The aligner trays change along with the position of your teeth. Most patients use between 12 and 49 aligning trays during their course of treatment.

Our Huntington Beach dentist is an experienced Invisalign Premier Provider with hundreds of happy patients who have beautiful smiles thanks to Invisalign. Our dentist uses Invisalign effectively for numerous orthodontic problems. These include:

- CROOKED TEETH- Invisalign realigns teeth that are crooked or otherwise misaligned. Good oral hygiene is easier to achieve with properly aligned teeth.

• GAPS IN TEETH- In most cases, Invisalign effectively closes gaps and promotes proper spacing. This is important for dental health as well as aesthetics. Bacteria and food debris can build up in gaps causing tooth decay and gum disease.

• CROWDED TEETH- When your jaw does not have enough space for all of your teeth, they tend to overlap and turn. This makes good oral hygiene difficult especially flossing in the odd angles. Additionally, bacteria build up in crowded areas.

• BITE PROBLEMS- Invisalign can address many different bite problems, including overbite, underbite, open bite, and crossbite. Correct bite promotes overall health by improving chewing and making digestion easier.
