Getting Dental Crowns in One Visit
At our dental office, we take pride in offering our patients the latest treatments available. One of our most popular advanced treatments is for one visit crowns.
While no one enjoys dental procedures, getting crowns can be bothersome to many patients, especially those patients who struggle with very fast paced schedules. Typically, our dentist cleans and preps you tooth that needs a crown, then takes an impression of your tooth to send to a dental lab where dental technicians custom-make your crown. However, in the two weeks that pass between preparing for the crown and getting the crown, you must wear a temporary crown. Our patients often tell us that they find the temporary dental crowns are not comfortable, and some patients describe temporary dental crowns as painful.
Thanks to highly advanced CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, our dentist is able to create perfect dental crowns for you in just one office visit. The procedure involved in one visit crowns is very similar to that of our regular crown.
• Your tooth and the area around it receive anesthetic
• We carefully remove any decayed tissue from your tooth
• Our dentist cleans and reshapes your tooth to prepare for the crown
• Using a hand-held digital imaging device, our dentist takes impressions of your tooth to use while crafting your dental crown
• A specialized machine uses the digital impression to make your crown from a single cube of porcelain
• Our dentist places your new crown, and the procedure is complete
There are two advantages to getting a one-visit crown
• COMFORT- Your new porcelain crown is much more comfortable than the temporary crown. Because it fits precisely on your tooth, there are no rough or ill-fitting edges to cut and irritate the inside of your mouth or allow bacteria within the tooth.
• CONVENIENCE- Because we have your new crown on your tooth the same day as the preparation of your damaged tooth you do not need a return visit.
