Different Types of Dentures

Dentures have come a long way in recent years, particularly when compared to the types that George Washington was purported to have worn. There are many different brands and manufacturers available, each with different values. However, they all generally fall into three main categories. Here is a look at those types.
Full Dentures

This is essentially the type of denture that you are probably most familiar with. They cover an entire dental arch, either top or bottom, or one for both. They are usually made of a combination of materials, but includes resin for the gums. This uses a combination of friction and suction to stay in place and is exceptionally good at doing so. These day, patients very rarely even need any sort of the much-maligned oral adhesives.

Partial Dentures

Our dentist would use these replacements for groups of teeth and are removable. They use the natural teeth that are still in place as support and are exceptionally secure.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Also for an entire dental arch, our dentures dentist in Agoura Hills will implant four strategically placed titanium posts into your jaw bone. After these heal, a fixed set of dentures are attached to them. This option is the most natural-behaving of all the options.
