The right dental habits during orthodontic treatment can ensure your smile ends up straight, healthy, and beautiful. Dr. Mozafari, our
Cupertino orthodontist, will explain the best ways to take care of your teeth and aligners during treatment, but there are some general rules.
1. Brush your teeth after meals, and floss them carefully before putting your aligners back into place. Aligners also need to be cleaned. An Invisalign cleaning kit is recommended, but you can also brush and rinse your aligners when you brush your teeth.
2. Although there are no limitations to what you can eat and drink, you do need to remove your aligners when you eat to protect them. Some foods and drinks can stain them, and chewing can put excess pressure on the aligners and warp them.
3. Wear your aligners exactly as prescribed. If you leave your aligners out too long or move to the next in the series too quickly or too late, you can disrupt your treatment plan. Aligners can be damaged, so avoid leaving them in the heat, boiling them, or storing them without their case.
